Manor System Medieval manor life or manor system is the English feudal system during the middle Ages. It is based on the receiving of land or a manor in return for service. In this you would get a rank and that rank would determine the way you lived. If you had a higher rank you would have a good life and if you had a lower rank you would have a bad life. When all of the ranks were put together the system resembled a pyramid, the order of the ranks went the king on top which is the highest rank, then the noblemen or lords and laidies, then the knights, then at the bottom were the merchants, and the lowest rank of all the serfs or peasants. In the religious feudal system it is equal to the manor system the pope is equal to the king, cardinals and bishops are equal to the noblemen, monks and nuns are equal to the knights, friars and parsons are equal to the merchants and professionals but no one in the religious system is equal to the serfs and peasants. After the noblemen got their land they would have to divide it among the knights. When the knights got their land they would have to fight for the king in time of war. Then the knights would not divide their land but would have the peasants work on it instead, then the peasants would get a tiny piece of land in return.
